Excellent separation
Capillary electrophoresis (CE) delivers clear and precise separation of hemoglobin fractions, supporting accurate HbA1c measurement and confidence in patient results.
Worldwide, 589 million adults are living with diabetes, and nearly half remain undiagnosed. Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) is a cornerstone marker for both diagnosing diabetes and monitoring long‑term glycemic control, as it reflects the average blood glucose level over the previous three months.
More than 20 years ago, the WHO endorsed HbA1c as a diagnostic tool, establishing a threshold of 6.5% (48 mmol/mol).
Today, HbA1c testing remains essential for identifying diabetes and assessing disease progression in diagnosed patients.
Leveraging its extensive expertise in capillary electrophoresis, Sebia has optimized this high‑resolution technology for HbA1c analysis. This advanced method provides laboratories and clinicians with accurate, reliable, and clinically meaningful results, supporting improved patient care and long‑term disease management.
High‑resolution solution ensuring high‑quality results for all patients.
Capillary electrophoresis (CE) delivers clear and precise separation of hemoglobin fractions, supporting accurate HbA1c measurement and confidence in patient results.
Capillary electrophoresis (CE) supports accurate HbA1c quantification in the presence of common analytical interferences, including labile A1c, carbamylated hemoglobin, Hb F, Hb S, Hb C, Hb D, and Hb E. Clear visual separation of hemoglobin fractions helps minimize potential interferences and provides visibility when they are present, supporting reliable result interpretation. The method also enables the incidental detection of common hemoglobin disorders such as sickle cell disease and β-thalassemia.
Aligned with the IFCC reference method (HbA1c/(HbA1c+Hb A0)), capillary electrophoresis (CE) delivers accurate and reliable HbA1c results. Unlike some methods, Sebia CE does not generate erroneous HbA1c results in samples containing homozygous hemoglobin variants or in patients lacking HbA, providing greater confidence in reported results.
With Sebia’s broad portfolio of capillary electrophoresis instruments, laboratories can select the platform that best matches their workflow—from compact standalone benchtop systems to fully integrated workcell configurations
HbA1c is formed by the irreversible glycation of hemoglobin A at the N-terminal valine of the β-globin chains.
Its concentration reflects average blood glucose exposure over the previous two to three months, making it a key marker for assessing long-term glycemic control.
